Sunnyside police to host its second town hall meeting of the year.
The meeting is scheduled for 6p.m. on Thursday, July 15th at the Sunnyside Senior Center, 1400 Federal Way, Sunnyside, WA.
The public is invited to share thoughts, and address concerns regarding identity theft.
"Educating the citizens of the City of Sunnyside is one of the most important things we can do as law enforcement officers. Providing people with the tools to prevent, report and put a stop to identity theft is of high value to us during our investigation," said Chief Ed Radder in a statement.
For high school students, colleges represent the future, freedom and parties. For identity thieves, colleges represent potential targets.
“College age students are the No.1 target for identity theft,” said Tricia Pruitt, regional vice president for the North Alabama Better Business Bureau.
To help educate upcoming college students about financial responsibility and identity theft, the BBB and the Family Security Credit Union are hosting a Lunch-and-Learn event titled 10 Money Saving Tips for College Students.
Several times a year, News 8 On Your Side gives viewers the opportunity to protect themselves and their family from identity theft.
News 8 is once again teaming up with Shred-it of Central Pa. to provide a chance to get rid of personal documents that scammers would love to get their hands on.
The next event is scheduled for July 16. The hours have been expanded to 3 to 6 p.m.
Once again, News 8 will return to the Burle Business Park on New Holland Avenue in Lancaster.
This is a great location with easy access right off the New Holland Pike exit, one block south of Route 30.
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is looking to shred any opportunity identity thieves may be looking for.
The department has partnered with Shred-it to offer shred-a-thons across the county in July and August.
At each shredding site, the public will be able to shred two boxes or bags of personal and financial information for free.
"These identity thieves want to prey upon the elderly more than the rest of the population and so we're providing this free service to help them to get rid of those documents," said Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley.
