The Heritage Tradition will host BBVA Compass Bank representatives for a special seminar on “Identity Theft and Fraud Prevention in 2010” at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 11.
Debbie Zozaya, vice president, branch retail executive, and Mike Fritz, senior financial sales consultant, will discuss the following topics:
* Mail fraud
* Internet fraud
* Identity theft
* Scams to watch out for
* Security for accounts and computers
In addition, they will distribute information regarding the appropriate agencies at the state and national levels that fraud victims can contact.
Kern Schools Federal Credit Union plans to host a free presentation Tuesday about how consumers can protect against online identity theft.
Titled "Protect Your Identity Online," the workshop is to feature a speech by Scott Whitten of Carney's Business Technology Center.

For the second year, Kansas Attorney General Steve Six is hosting a consumer summit in Topeka, KS during National Consumer Protection Week (the first week of March).
The summit will focus on educating consumers on common scams, identity theft, foreclosure, lending and much more. The summit will also provide education for consumer professionals.
